The first round-trip flights to be operated by EgyptAir to Doha will start next Monday on 18 January 2021, according to a report on the Lusail News website.
The decision to operate EgyptAir between Qatar and Egypt comes at a time when the Egyptian civil aviation authorities announced the reopening of the Egyptian airspace which had been closed to Qatar Airways since 5 June 2017.
The decision also falls within the steps of the Gulf reconciliation that took place in the 41st session of the Supreme Council of the Arab Cooperation Council, which was held last week in the province of Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia.
According to Pilot Rushdi Zakaria, head of the holding company for EgyptAir, the plan to restart flights to Qatar includes two flights per day from Cairo Airport and four flights per week from Borg El Arab airport in Alexandria.
In addition, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Aviation, the first flights of the Qatari carrier will arrive at Borg El Arab Airport in Alexandria, next Thursday.
