Looking for something to do in Doha? We're bringing you this special edition of Things to Do to keep you occupied over the week ahead. With most of the establishments closed and events postponed or canceled, it would be helpful to still have a semblance of routine so we're bringing you a list of things you can do at home instead! Be sure to keep following ILQ for all the updates and information about Qatar and coronavirus at iloveqatar.net/coronavirus.
Time inside our homes is one of the things that this situation has given us. And now is the perfect time to spring clean! It's time to keep again winter stuff and free up space in your closet by tossing out or donating things that you don't need anymore.
Clean the house from top to bottom and disinfect the areas we touch and use frequently. And that includes gadgets! Have the kids join in, and assign them chores.
Don't have cleaning materials but don't want to head to the nearest supermarket? Order from these online grocery deliveries instead.
Now that we have more time than ever, it's easy to just take it easy and watch movies and TV series from morning until night. But why not try to use the time for a more fruitful endeavor and learn something new instead? Try to learn a new language, take up free online courses that will help you level up in your work, or an entirely new concept.
Some websites where you can take up free online classes include Coursera, Udemy, Alison, and edX.
Had enough of screen time? Read a book or listen to a podcast or audiobook!
Even with the gyms all over Qatar temporarily closed until further notice, it is not an excuse to become a couch potato especially if you'll be working from home. Staying healthy and fit is one of the best things we can do right now. There are various fitness apps that you can download for free or otherwise to help you get fit right in the comforts of your own home. If you miss the equipment in your gym, try to keep simple workout equipment at home like resistance bands, a few adjustable weights, yoga mat, or even a jumping rope.
Prefer free options? Use Youtube to find a home workout you're comfortable with - from 5 minutes to an hour or more depending on your physical fitness.
Need fresh air? You can still run outside especially if there's an open park near you. As long as you're not sick and you maintain a safe distance from others, you'll be fine with a walk, jog, or even a bike ride.
And of course, don't forget to practice good hygiene after your workout!
Instead of using your favorite restaurant food delivery apps in Qatar, why not meal prep for the whole week instead? It's cheaper and healthier too! It's also the time to try new recipes you've been filing away for later. Make it a family affair and assign tasks to the whole family. Use ingredients that will help boost your immune system like garlic, ginger, citrus fruits, and turmeric to name a few.
Miss eating out? Why not set up an indoor picnic at your house or a romantic dinner for two?
It's time to take up your old hobbies once again - from painting to knitting and even DIY projects for your home. You can even start home gardening so you will have vegetables straight right from your home. It will definitely be rewarding to see those seedlings sprout after a few days or weeks. Watch these home gardening videos in Qatar for inspiration: DIY Hydroponics and Home gardening in Qatar.
Now is not a good time to travel. But who says you can't travel while you're at home? Thanks to Google Arts and Culture and Google Street View, you can go on a virtual tour to museums and different iconic landmarks around the world.
Museums include the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, Musée d’Orsay in Paris, and Guggenheim Museum in New York, while monuments include the Taj Mahal, Great Pyramid of Giza, Colosseum, and Palace of Versailles to name a few.
It's time to show celebrate and show gratitude to our mothers! But instead of celebrating Mother's Day outside, why don't you just celebrate at home? For sure, your mom will appreciate your efforts. Thankfully, you can easily order flowers and chocolate online from online delivery apps like Talabat. And if mom likes cosmetics, throw in a few pieces of makeup or skincare together with your order. Let her sleep in and cook her favorite breakfast then serve it in bed.
Staying at home doesn't have to be boring! Let us know if you found these activities helpful and don't forget to hit like and share - it keeps us going!
