The QST team is calling for Doha’s best and brightest women for our first Innovative Women of Qatar Virtual Hackathon in Doha.
Who should apply?
We are looking for female thinkers, hackers, marketers, creatives, visionaries, who are residing in Qatar, with an entrepreneurial spark... if you can relate, then you're it! Whether you are a student or working a full-time job, it doesn’t matter. We like you for your brain, passion, and skills - not your title.
What's in it for you?
The QST hackathon is a unique chance to test your skills and get hands-on experience with some of the most pressing challenges in the world of sports and sports tech. The event will provide you with the perfect setting to match with like-minded individuals and form a team for your startup. During the 48 hours of the event, you will receive feedback and mentoring from top-tier industry experts and entrepreneurs.
Apply for the “Fight the Corona pandemic – a reflection in Art – Prize of the Arabic Divan”. The aim of the competition is more communication and dialogue in and with the art world in times of the corona pandemic; the competition is intended to serve as an appropriate platform and promote unity and solidarity in the community of young artists in the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Qatar.
The prize money is:
- First place: 1000 EUR
- Second place: 750 EUR
- Third place: 500 EUR
The deadline for submission is 15th October 2020 at midnight.
To capture the world’s artistic responses to COVID-19, Qatar Foundation and Qatar Museums are organizing a digital art contest and online exhibition in the framework of the Paris Peace Forum.
It’s titled ‘The Untold Stories of Resilience’ and will highlight human resilience in times of crisis.
Artists aged 16 and older from around the world are eligible to submit their work in order for it to be considered for the exhibition, and applications are also welcomed from galleries and agents representing artists.
The submission period is now open and continues until October 15.

Qatar Museums presents Asma Al-Mannai: Colourful Moments at the Fire Station: Artist in Residence from 23 September to 24 October. This is the Qatari artist’s first solo exhibition encompasses a collection of passing moments and experiences depicted using different methods and mediums including drawing, painting, watercolour, and ink.
Opening hours for the Fire Station are from 9:00 am-7:00 pm Saturday through Thursdays and 1:30 pm-7:00 pm on Fridays.

Your artistic mind can rejoice now as Qatar Museums reopened the Fire Station and unveiled the special exhibition Picasso’s Studios in the Garage Gallery. The exhibition features 108 extraordinary artworks by Pablo Picasso selected from the unparalleled collection of the Musée national Picasso in Paris, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, and ceramics. On view through November 1, 2020, the innovative exhibition traces the evolution of Picasso’s epoch-making art by presenting it in eight distinct galleries, representing the series of studios where he worked throughout his career. Join the Ajyal Film Festival Jury from 11 – 23 November 2020. As an Ajyal Juror, you will:
1. Watch short and feature-length films from all over the world.
2. Vote for your favourite films and choose the Ajyal Competition winners.
3. Meet many film directors and actors through our online platform.
4. Attend online workshops on filmmaking techniques and film language.
A registration fee of 50 QR is required to confirm your interest. Registration is open from 20 August to 31 October 2020. You must be between the ages of 8 and 25 to be an Ajyal Juror.
Featuring a journey through six decades and three continents, "Faces and Places" is Huguette Caland's largest solo museum exhibition to date. Huguette Caland was the daughter of the first president of the Republic of Lebanon. The exhibition features her paintings, drawings, caftans, smocks, and sculptures and evokes Caland's journey through Beirut, Paris, and California, encompassing the "faces and places that inform her rich oeuvre, all while highlighting the predominant theme in her work, the line."
A part of the series "Focus: Works from Mathaf Collection", this exhibition showcases works of artists, intellectuals, journalists, and cultural activists who played a major role in the city's cultural scene for more than half a century. It documents the experiences and knowledge of those generations as well as highlights the work of key artists of the past and present, with paintings, photography, video, and installations.
Currently displayed at Mathaf is Yto Barrada's exhibition composed of photographs, films, videos, sculptures, prints, and fabric works that focus on "threads of regeneration and growth in social and geological transformation". The works highlight the importance of the vernacular in processes of decomposition and revival, drawing on histories of nation-building and post-independence strategies of resistance in social and domestic life. An award-winning artist who has also held numerous solo exhibitions internationally, Moroccan-French artist Yto Barrada’s work engages with self-education, architecture, palaeontology, botany, and modernist histories, in order to explore forms of knowledge production.

The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara presents the virtual exhibition "Heritage" by the Qatari Artist Hassan Bu Jassum. Heritage is originality and history, and it has multiple aspects of art and culture. Katara presents the virtual exhibition “Heritage” to document the inveterate patrimony and to revive the past that still exist in the memories, and to retrieve this remembrance through paintings to be a witness of that important part of history.
The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) will reopen its permanent galleries and unveil the landmark exhibition, Splendours of the Ancient East: Antiquities from The al-Sabah Collection, in its Temporary Exhibition Gallery. Drawn from the extraordinary holdings assembled in Kuwait by Sheikh Nasser Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah and Sheikha Hussa Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah, more than 170 objects provide a sweeping overview of the artistic and material culture of the ancient world, while also revealing new insights into the roots of Islamic art.
The Museum of Islamic Arts has opened an exhibition entitled "A Falcon's Eye: Tribute To Sheikh Saoud Al-Thani". The exhibition showcases more than 300 outstanding artworks from prehistoric fossils and Egyptian antiquities to Orientalist paintings and masterpieces of the history of photography in a spectacular display following the concept of ancient (Renaissance) “cabinet of curiosities” reflecting Sheikh Saoud’s fascination with both natural history and the art world.
