In the digital age, data surrounds us, nowhere more so than in our cities. What kind of stories can urban data tell about a city, its citizens, its workers, and its visitors? During the Qatar British Festival, EVERY THING EVERY TIME will draw on data streams generated by the many things and events happening each day in this city. Watch as poetry is written in real-time and revealed on a split-flap display.
The artwork investigates concepts of the ‘Smart City’, urging deeper reflection on the role of data in our lives, personal privacy and our place in future cities.
EVERY THING EVERY TIME is an artwork by Naho Matsuda, and produced by FutureEverything. With thanks to Dan Hett, RASKL and Paul Angus.

The Sea is the Limit exhibition brings together works by international artists who are addressing the issues of refugees, borders, migration and national identity. Drawing on both historical and contemporary narratives that shape identity and opinion, the artists question the meaning of nationalism, free movement, inclusion, and exclusion.
Using the language of painting, drawing, sculpture, video, installation and virtual reality, the artists explore some of the complex experiences and emotions associated with borders and migration, statelessness and belonging. The works in the exhibition do not offer us solutions to the migrant crisis, but instead draw our attention to its challenges in a meaningful way.

We have also another amazing exhibition by El Anatsui which is happening at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art. The artist has consistently worked to transform the formal possibilities of African sculptural idioms. Over 50 years, he has repeatedly revised and reinvented his material and compositional techniques to astonishing effect - from the early smaller wooden reliefs with their incised markings and broken ceramic forms, to the monumental outdoor cement sculptures, and, more recently, the vast and spectacular metal wall and floor works, which blur the boundaries between sculpture, painting and assemblage. Mark your calendars to check out this exhibition.
