The exhibition titled "Earth Metal" by Yousef Bahzad, explores themes of erosion and manifestation, and the idea that the land itself shapes people, and hence people shape the land. Bahzad approaches his paintings “through expressive abstraction and a tinge of the surreal through a lens of mystery which invokes questions within the viewer.” It will take place in Gallery 3 of the Doha Fire Station. The exhibition Mubarak Nasser Al-Thani: Espresso 4 the Road will focus on the rise of the Metropole, the birth of global culture and how it connects people, both physically and culturally. It will take place in Gallery 4 of the Doha Fire Station. Mubarak Nasser Al-Thani’s work covers architecture, flora, and fauna, geography, history, and exploration, among others. Piano enthusiasts, you are in for a treat! Join The Philharmonic with Liszt’s best works. The concert will feature Piano Concerto No. 1, as well as Les Préludes, the best known of Liszt’s symphonic poems. Did you know Liszt was considered the greatest piano virtuoso of his time? János Balázs will perform solo piano and Alastair Willis will conduct. How exciting is this?!
Manga enthusiasts unite! Years Of Culture has launched the second edition of “Manga Style!” in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Qatar and Geekdom. Qataris and residents can submit stories that showcase both countries’ cultures under the theme of “Friendship”.
Original stories can be submitted in Arabic or English through the Years of Culture website from 1 May to 31 July 2022. Entries are free and applicants can submit up to three different stories. Please note that each entry should be a minimum of 16 pages.
