Jeff Koons: Lost in America

Part of the Qatar-United States 2021 Year of Culture, Jeff Koons: Lost in America exhibition will run until 31 March 2022 at the QM Gallery Al Riwaq, the expansive exhibition space located in MIA Park. This is Koons’ first exhibition in the Gulf region, which will feature more than sixty artworks drawn from his four-decades-long career, including some of his most iconic pieces such as Rabbit (1986), Balloon Dog (Orange) (1994–2000), and Play-Doh (1994–2014).

Sixteen of the Arab world’s top national teams are set to meet in Qatar for the first pan-Arab tournament to be held under the FIFA umbrella. This sports event will not only showcase the region’s passion for the beautiful game, but it will also serve as a great opportunity for competitors and spectators alike to experience the spirit of Qatar and the iconic stadiums that will host the FIFA World Cup Qatar™ in 2022.

Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture Closing Concert

The US Embassy in Doha and Qatar Museums invite the public for the Qatar-USA closing concert on 29th November. The concert will feature a special performance by the US AFCENT Band and the Charlie Porter Jazz Quintet, featuring a variety of styles of American music and an exclusive collaborative piece between AFCENT Band and H.E. Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali, Minister of Youth and Sports.

Note: Only fully vaccinated attendees will be allowed to enter the venue. Children aged below 12 years will not be allowed to enter the venue.

Katara Traditional Dhow Festival 2021

Katara organizes the 11th Traditional Dhow Festival with an art competition. Qatar nationals and residents 18 years old and above, including those abroad, are invited to participate in the festival’s painting competition. The best painting will receive QR 30,000 while the second and third winners will get QR 20,000 and QR 10,000 respectively. Click here for the terms and conditions.

POW! WOW! International Mural Festival

Qatar Museums is hosting the POW! WOW! international mural festival in Doha! First time in the MENA region, the street art festival will see 12 local, regional and international artists add striking artworks to walls around the Al Sadd Metro Station. The festival has been exhibited in 17 cities worldwide with the purpose of city beautification and community building. You will see artists working on their murals in real-time!

Curated by Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani, the multi-media exhibit presents the works of 27 artists expressing the harsh realities of the Palestinians through powerful brushstrokes and creative modes of modern expression. This public exhibition is happening at Sikkat Wadi Msheireb.

      Have you heard of the acclaimed American artist and designer Virgil Abloh? Qatar Museums will present a retrospective of the artist at the Garage Gallery at Doha Fire Station. This will be the first museum exhibition of his work to be presented in the Middle East, Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech will be on view until 31 March 2022. With more than 55 works, the exhibition will offer an in-depth look at Abloh's work over the years.
