The State of Qatar will participate in the 2019 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2019, which will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday under the theme "Information and Communication Technologies for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals".

Qatar's Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) Chairman Mohammed Ali Al Mannai will head the State of Qatar's delegation to the Forum.

The five-day forum aims to link the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which cover a wide range of social and economic development issues worldwide, to the Summit's action lines to accelerate the achievement of these goals.

The Forum activities include high-level policy sessions, ministerial round tables, over a 100 workshops on topics such as artificial intelligence and data privacy, Block Qin and data protection technology, the role of ICT in the academic environment, cyber security and artificial intelligence, smart cities and fifth-generation of the Internet technology.

Moreover, an exhibition and the WSIS Award Ceremony will also be held to honor projects that have successfully implemented development-oriented strategies that harness the potential of ICTs to drive development.

CRA attaches great importance to the attending as well as partaking in the international conferences and fora, to promote partnerships and to keep abreast of global developments and best practices in information and communication technologies, which contributes to the development of the ICT sector to benefit consumers and stakeholders in Qatar and contribute to the achievement of the goals of sustainable development 2030 locally and globally.

In 2019, WSIS will celebrate its 10th anniversary of the establishment of WSIS Forum from April 8 to 12, under the theme "Information and Communication Technologies for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals". WSIS Forum thereby continues to provide a platform for a "just and equal information society" for all WSIS Stakeholders as set by the Geneva Plan of Action.

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum is a global United Nations (UN) multi-stakeholder platform facilitating the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines for advancing Sustainable Development Goals.
