The International Event for Homeland Security and Civil Defense (Milipol Qatar), organized by the Ministry of the Interior in cooperation with the Paris-based Comexposium company, consolidated its position on the map of specialized international exhibitions, which enhances the efforts of the State of Qatar and regional countries in enhancing security, exchanging expertise and experiences, and getting informed on the latest developments in the world of technologies and security systems.

The biennial exhibition is the first prominent international event specialized in this field since the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as the organizers' underlined that all health measures are taken to limit the spread of the virus.

Participation of 72 local companies and 71 international companies

The global reputation of the exhibition, and the capabilities of the State of Qatar in organizing and arranging, constituted a strong motivation for international companies to participate in it this year despite the pandemic conditions, as it succeeded in attracting 72 local companies and 71 international companies from all regions and continents of the world.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), H.E. the Chairman of The General Authority of Customs (GAC) Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Jamal said that despite the current difficult circumstances due to the pandemic, the State of Qatar has succeeded in attracting many international and local companies to participate in the exhibition.

The exhibition has left its mark internationally in the field of organizing security exhibitions, he said, adding that it also has its impact at the local level in enhancing expertise and experiences and getting acquainted with the latest security systems and part of them serves the work in the GAC in protecting the country's border crossings.

H.E. Advisor to the Minister of Interior Maj. Gen. Dr. Abdullah Yousef Al Mal said that the organizing committee of the Milipol Qatar 2021 succeeded in attracting many exhibitors from different countries of the world despite such exceptional circumstances.

He added that the exhibition hosts many specialized companies in the field of security, and this is a great opportunity to benefit each other and sharing experiences and therefore, this is an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the security field.

Brigadier General Saud Al Shafi, director-general of supply and equipment at the Ministry of Interior, said that there is no doubt that the exhibition and the modern equipment it displays will contribute to providing businessmen and investors with ideas about the future of the internal security and civil defense sectors, as well as allowing them to identify new international partners to supply and develop technologies and systems that enhance the readiness of these sectors in the future because the exhibition is a destination for security agencies and private companies to know the latest products in the world in security innovations, he explained.

Milipol Qatar offers the latest security products and systems, which accommodate a wide range of equipment, systems, products, and consultations for the internal security and civil defence sector, which respond to the needs and requirements of the current stage, especially the security systems that serve the 2022 World Cup.

For his part, Assistant Director of Public Security Maj. Gen. Abdullah Mohammed Al Suwaidi, pointed out that the security personnel are in constant need of identifying the latest products of the specialized security and safety companies as well as the latest equipment and innovations that help them in the performance of their duties with the required efficiency and this exhibition is a great chance for the concerned parties from the military and security fields to discuss with the exhibitors, especially, the country is about to organize a major sporting event like 2022 World Cup and the Ministry of Interior and the Committee for Security and Safety Operations of the World Cup are keen to provide everything the teams need in order to make this tournament a successful event.

For his part, Head of the National Command Center (NCC) Major General Khalifa Abdullah Al Nuaimi said that Milipol Qatar is considered one of the most important exhibitions in the field of services and innovations in the field of security and civil defense, adding that this serves the State of Qatar's strategy on that front. He said that they have seen many advanced security devices this year and will look into the possibility in using them in security operations. He noted that the field of internal security and public safety are seeing continuous growth, which prompts the NCC to look at the latest innovations in field security monitoring.

Director of the Telecom Department at the Ministry of Interior Major General Ali Salim Al Henzab said that there was no doubt that government entities benefit from the new security technologies available at Milipol Qatar. He added that the State of Qatar is highly advanced in the field of integrating technology in security work, which helped improve the country's status in international indicators related to security and peace.

The civil defense sector is seeing notable interest at Milipol Qatar 2021 in order to protect their residents in situations of emergency, disasters, dangers and daily challenges, as it sheds light on a set of the latest civil defence, monitoring and prevention solutions designed to protect the population.

Director-General of Civil Defense Hamad Othman Al Duhaimi stressed that Milipol Qatar was an important exhibition because it contained the latest devices and equipment in the field of civil defence in addition to internal security. He added that the department is keen on following the latest in the world of civil defence and the equipment in the exhibition, which are then procured based on the needs of the department. He added that the exhibition develops considerably with each edition, which helps the civil defence benefit from the amazing technologies that are on display each year.
