First rolled out in 2018, Instagram Music is now available in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. After a long wait, Qatar-based users can now add music to their Instagram and Facebook stories.
Users can tap on the Music sticker icon after selecting a photo or video for the Story to be able to use the feature. The Instagram Music library features artists and songs from the region and around the world. Users can also select which part of the song they want to highlight and customize how the lyrics (if available) will be displayed on their story.
Before this feature was available in the country, Instagram users in Qatar could only see "Currently unavailable in your region" when viewing a story with Instagram Music. According to sources, this feature started becoming available in the MENA region on Monday, 8 March 2021.
"People have always come to Facebook and Instagram to express themselves and be entertained, and we’re focused on bringing music into the ways people share, connect and express themselves. For that reason, we’ve been working with creators and music partners around the world to help people connect and share how they feel through music across the Facebook family of apps. We see music as a core part of the future of entertainment on Facebook and Instagram. Now there are even more ways for people to create and discover content they’ll love," Facebook said in a statement posted on Campaign Middle East.
