HIA to have Vodafone Qatar's 5G network

Vodafone Qatar and Hamad International Airport (HIA) signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The agreement will see Vodafone Qatar become the first operator to deploy its world class GigaNet 5G in-building network in the airport.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of QITCOM 2019, the largest information and communications showcase in Qatar, by HE Vodafone Qatar's CEO, Sheikh Hamad Abdulla Jassim Al Thani and the Chief Operating Officer of HIA Engr. Badr Mohammed Al Meer.

Commenting on the agreement, Sheikh Hamad said:

"Vodafone Qatar is proud to support HIA's digital strategy through our 5G network. For airports, an intelligent 5G enabled wireless network that can power advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data will be at the heart of transforming the passenger experience, enhancing safety, boosting operational efficiencies and generating revenue."

Engr. Badr stated:

"HIA has been a pioneer in adopting emerging technology trends that deliver tangible business outcomes. HIA's partnership with Vodafone Qatar will be pivotal in delivering ubiquitous ultra-high-speed communication, providing our passengers with connectivity like never before."

Vodafone Qatar has unveiled the latest technology solutions supported by GigaNet 5G, which will help build a better digital society and enable Qatar to be one of the most connected countries in the world.

In its pavilion, Vodafone Qatar showcased Vodafone's 5G technologies in five segments: Smart Cities, Connected Retailers, Smart Industries, Smart Homes and Electronic Games.
