West End Park announces start of ticket sales for Qatar International Cricket ladies championship

Championship to be held under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Salah Bin Ali Al-Ghanim , Minister of Youth and Sports in the State of Qatar and sponsored by WEST END PARK

The West End Park has announced the start of ticket sales from today (January 7) for the Qatar International Cricket ladies championship. The triangular women’s one-day and Twenty20 championship between January 10-24, is being organized under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali, Minister of Youth and Sports in the State of Qatar.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, chairman of West End Park, Mr. Mana Ibrahim al Mana said preparations at the 12,500-capacity cricket stadium located at the West End Park are complete. He said sale of tickets for the championship will start from 7th January till 24th of January, and will be available at all leading shopping malls in Doha and Industrial Area, as well at the West End Park. He said tickets are available in 4 categories

“We are delighted to host this championship which will put Qatar on the cricket map. The triangular series will be a delight for all cricket loving fans in Qatar,” Mr. Mana said.

According to Mr. Mana, the management of West End Park has exerted all efforts to ensure a fun-filled tournament for the cricket lovers of Qatar. He said the company expects large turnout for the triangular championship, which will see teams from South Africa, Ireland and Pakistan in action.

Teams will compete for precious ICC ranking points ahead of major events such as the ICC Women’s World Cup; ICC Women’s World Twenty/20.

Talking about ticket sales Mr. Mana said ticket reservations has been very encouraging for the opening ceremony, which will be graced by His Excellency Mr. Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali, Minister of Youth and Sports, ambassadors of participating countries and senior officials of Pakistan Cricket Board, South African Cricket Board and the Irish Cricket Board.

The Century 21 & West End Park Chairman noted that the hosting of this tournament in Doha is a huge achievement and a historic moment for the sport in the State of Qatar as this is the first championship ever to be sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

“This is the first time Qatar is hosting a major cricket tournament for women, and for this it has received tremendous support from all institutions and local bodies The event will be a perfect opportunity for cricket lovers of Qatar to enjoy some entertaining cricket in a festive atmosphere as cricket promote values of fair play and the spirit of cooperation among all communities in Qatar.”

Mr. Mana noted that the tournament will provide world class competition between the 3 countries from the 3 continents of Asia, Africa & Europe. Expressing confidence at Qatar becoming a cricket hub, Mr. Mana said, "The cricket stadium at the West End Park is a clear evidence of the great efforts made by the State of Qatar in the development of cricket in Qatar.

The hosting of the International Cricket Women’s championship demonstrates Qatar’s commitment in patronizing the growth of the sport in Qatar. The tournament is one major step in making the sport popular to all the communities in Qatar.”

Mr. Mana also explained that the tournament will also provide an opportunity for big brands to be visible to a large audience of existing or prospective customers. He said leading brands through billboards can take advantage of strategic locations in the stadium to promote their product.

Meanwhile, participating teams are set to arrive in Doha to clinch the coveted trophy. The first match of the tournament will see the South African team battle against the Irish team.
