During day nine of the 2014 Asian Games at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium on September 28, Yousef Ahmed Masrahi, the Saudi Arabian track and field athlete specialised in the 400m sprint took gold in the Men’s 400m final. He had been cited as the most likely winner of the event given the fact that he was the gold medalist at the Asian Athletics Championships in 2011. Additionally, he set a new Asian Games record, clocking a time of 44.46 seconds and breaking his personal best time, 44.61 seconds, set in Moscow in 2013. ABBAS Abbas Abubakar of Bahrain settled for silver while Arokiarajiv of India won bronze in the event.

Meanwhile, on the same day at 9 pm, Femi Seun Ogunode, the Nigeria-born Qatari sprinter also set a new Asian Games record as he topped the podium with a time of 9.93 seconds in the men’s 100m final ahead of Northeast Asia’s favorites, China's Su Bingtian and Kei Tasake of japan. It is a major milestone for him since he broke the 10-second mark at the Asian Games for the first time. Previously, he won 100m and 200m at the West Asian Championships.
