This week, we're wrapping the black belt on Empower Sport Center (ESC) -- a training center offering mixed martial arts services to both adults and kids in Qatar!
Speaking to ESC's founders Ahmed Al Muftah and Monira Ali, the husband and wife said that besides staying fit, self-defense was also an integral part of their intent when the idea of establishing a fitness-themed business crossed their mind.
"ESC is a relevant part of Qatar's community because we never know when danger is coming so it's always best to learn self defense for our own good," Ahmed noted, who also added that they've been in the business for almost 2 years now. They're turning 2 on May 15th.
When it comes to ESC's unique side, Monira revealed that apart from having state-of-the-art equipment and coaches who are internationally-experienced, their main focus are women and children. "Women, because we want to empower them by being confident and fearless. And kids, as we always believe that athletes are made, not born."
The duo also mentioned that so far, the response from their customers are heartwarming especially from those who wants to lose weight and seeking to have some extra curricular activities apart from their daily office jobs. When asked about ESC's vision, Ahmed said: "As long as our customers are coming back to us to say that they're getting results, then I think we're on the right track."
"Be passionate on what you're doing and you're halfway there. Always think out of the box and be relentless. And most of all, do not be contented, strive harder," they concluded.
Ahmed and Monira did'nt seek help from either the Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC) or Digital Incubation Center (DIC) to make ESC come to life.
The sport center is located at Door No.20, Street No. 529, Abu Hamour and they offer Karate, Taekwondo, Kyokushin Kai, Kickboxing, Karate Female, Zumba, Yoga and Fitness classes for all gender and ages.
