Starting this Thursday, February 22, some of the world’s best names in the sport of golf will tee off as the 2018 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters marks the latest leg of play on the European Tour. Running until Sunday, February 25 at the Doha Golf Club, fans and spectators in Qatar can expect to see world-class games amid beautiful surroundings at the club’s 150-hectare, 18-hole Championship Course.

First held in 1998, the annual Commercial Bank Qatar Masters is one of country’s top events in its yearly sporting calendar, with nearly $2 million USD in prize money up for grabs to the champion that hoists the Mother of Pearl Trophy. This year is no exception as the tournament, sponsored by Commercial Bank for over 10 years, celebrates its 21st edition, where fans can look forward to seeing some of the globe’s top players in action.

In previous tournaments, the likes of Branden Grace, Sergio Garcia, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Henrik Stenson, and more have all graced the greens at the Doha Golf Club – one of them most challenging courses on the tour. Last year’s championship saw more than 20,000 spectators in attendance and was broadcast to a world-wide TV audience of over 400 million.

“The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters is one of Qatar’s most popular annual sporting events and offers something for everyone – players, golf fans, and families,” says Joseph Abraham, Group CEO of Commercial Bank. “Golf fans can watch the world’s best golfers in action, and families can enjoy a weekend outdoors socializing in the family-zone, public village, and shopping boulevard. The event is also a huge opportunity for some of Qatar’s promising young golfers to play alongside the best golfers in the world. We are proud to be working with the Qatar Golf Association, the Qatar Olympic Committee, and the Doha Golf Club again to stage one of the leading golf events in the region.”
