Aspire Zone has launched the second edition of its Skateboarding and BMXing competition with dozens of talented professionals showcasing their stunning tricks and moves during the practice session.

In collaboration with Qatar Extreme Sport (QES), the event is taking place between the Torch Doha and Khalifa Stadium, bringing together skateboarding professionals and aficionados.

The three-day event is part of celebrating the ‘Go-Skateboarding Day,’ the world’s largest annual gathering for the skateboarding community set on June 21.

“We have made great strides in identifying and bringing to Qatar activities, programmes and events that would support our local community in leading a sustainable and active lifestyle and integrating healthy habits into it,” Aspire Zone events manager Abdulla al-Khater said.

The event falls under a growing list of world-class activities and events that Aspire Zone has been organising in its mission to promote sustainable, healthy and fitness-centred lifestyles within the local community.

Al-Khater noted that 50 participants - split between skateboarders and BMXers - will be pitted against each other to demonstrate their skills and talents starting today, set as the start of the competition proper.

Open for both experts and enthusiasts, the competition is engaging the community to not only watch but also partake in “an intense, adrenaline-filled and active three-day celebration of the art and sport of skateboarding.”

“We are happy to reap the benefits of these efforts as the community continues to engage and actively take part in these initiatives,” said al-Khater. “We’re on the right track for a healthier future."
