The last Red Bull Neymar Jr's Five World Final was played three years ago in Brazil and it is back with all the thrilling action this time – in Qatar! Yes, Qatar is hosting this much-awaited event for the first time and the five-a-side footballers from across the world are ready to battle it out!
56 teams from 34 nations across the globe will be competing at this year's Red Bull Neymar Jr's World Final. These include teams who made it through their local qualifiers to become national champions in 2021 and 2022, along with three Jr's Global Five teams, making this 'Super Final' the biggest one yet. The event will be hosted at the Ceremonial Court, Education City at Qatar Foundation.

The Eagles, a team of 5 fantastic women won the 2022 Qatar National Finals for the Red Bull Neymar Jr's Five. When asked about how it feels to represent Qatar, one of the members said,
“We are very excited to have won the Red Bull Neymar Jr's Five Qatar finals and we are ready to face the other nations. Representing Qatar is an honour. Qatar is a mix of people from all over the world and our team really represents that. We have people from Kenya, Nigeria, the States, and France in our team."
We asked about their preparations and what they think about this format, The Eagles said,
“We are meeting, practising, building communication and continuing to build the community within our team. We usually play seven a side or 11 a side, so it's going to be different, fast-paced and the fact that with each goal one of the players will go out, pressures you to score first so it's definitely a different game.”
About how excited they were to be seeing Neymar - after a collective roar of excited cheer - one of the members said,
“We are all excited to see Neymar, I think it is one of the main reasons besides playing football to be in this tournament.”
What would you do if you won the tournament? The Eagles signed off by saying that if they won the tournament they would,
“Use the money, if any, to fund women’s soccer and girls’ soccer programs here in Qatar. We definitely need to have more things for women’s football in Qatar and we are really happy that a tournament like this is happening for the first time here, we want women to be represented at the international level and also here at the local level."
On winning Qatar’s 2022 Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five National Final champions, team “In The Pocket” said that,
“it’s an amazing feeling to win the Qatar finals and we are very proud to represent and play for Qatar. As a team, we are preparing well by eating good, sleeping well and training hard, and hope this increases our chances of winning and letting us go the furthest we can in this tournament.”
On why they should win the tournament,
“we deserve to win because we have good chemistry, we work hard and we work well as a team. Qatar hosting the first event of Red Bull Neymar Jr's Five is really good, the organization is doing its best. My favourite part of the competition is the atmosphere and getting to challenge people from other countries and see how they play”.
On getting to see Neymar, one player said,
“I am really excited to see Neymar as he is one of the best players in the world and definitely a skilful one with a fantastic performance on the pitch. I can’t wait to meet him."
When asked what will they do if they win,
“If we win, we are going to celebrate with our friends and family. We are going to enjoy our trip to Paris with Neymar and it's going to be a joyful time.”
The World Final will be broadcast live on Red Bull TV from 7:30 pm local time (4:30 pm GMT, 6:30 pm CEST, 12:30 pm EST, 9:30 am PST, 10:00 pm IST).
