In an effort to further promote football culture and build constructive partnerships with many sections of the society, the Qatar Stars League (QSL) played a proactive role in the schools football festival organised by the Yarmouk Preparatory School for Boys to coincide with the start date of 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar four years from now.
More than 350 students representing 30 schools took part in the festival, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy on Wednesday, 21st November.
Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi graced the festival, which marked the four-year countdown to the Qatar World Cup.
QSL’s Executive Director of Marketing, Sales and Communications Hassan Rabia Al Kuwari, representatives of all stakeholders, QNB Stars League stars such as Sebastian Soria, Meshaal Abdulla, Nigel de Jong, Mahmoud Al Mawas and Adel Rhaili, artists Ali Al Malki and Saad Burshid as well as celebrities and media representatives attended the event.
Yarmouk School Principal Ibrahim Al Eidan, Sports Education Co-ordinator Abdullah Mubarak and Physical Education Teacher Khamis Mohammed Al Kuwari welcomed the guests.
The events also featured football matches among school students, including those from the Al Noor Institute for the Blind.
Dr Al Hammadi expressed his delight over the success of the festival and lavished praise on the students.
“Today, 21st November, marked the beginning of four-year countdown to the Qatar World Cup, which will be an exceptional event not just for the State of Qatar, but for the entire Arab world. This festival succeeded in highlighting the importance of such an important event especially among members of the educational community,” he said.
Al Kuwari said, “At the outset, we thank the Yarmouk Preparatory School for Boys for their efforts. We also thank the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for supporting such an initiative that marked the four-year countdown to the World Cup.
“I wish there’re more such initiatives and events in future. The QSL, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, is keen to engage all sections of the society.”
Al Kuwari hailed the festival’s successful organisation as well as the participation of QNB Stars League stars and added that it would further promote sports in general and football in particular at the age-group levels.
