With term two of the school year starting last week the QSL GOALZ Programme team will work with six new schools. They are as follows:

Doha College (Al Waab), Doha College (Westbay), Gulf English School, Hayat Universal Bilingual School, International School of London, Sherborne Qatar, and The Lebanese School.

A total of 61 football fun filled sessions were carried out across the seven new participating schools, with 57 high quality coaching hours initiated with children of varying ages. The total participants involved in last week’s activities were an astonishing 1471 children.

Students were in for a treat with the QSL team delivering football fun in a carnival-esque atmosphere.

By the end of the season the QSL GOALZ Programme will have worked with a total of 30 schools which translates into over 15,000 children.

The GOALZ Programme is funded by the QSL and will run across a total of 5 terms.

The aim of the programme is to connect the QSL and its 14 member clubs to the heart of the local community by working with schools. In addition to educating the children about the local league there is also a strong emphasis on encouraging healthy eating and active lifestyles.

Community Relations Specialist Mr Nasser Mubarak Al Kuwari who runs the project at the QSL said, “We achieved all our targets for the first term, we have noticed an increase in the level of improvement in the children’s skill level and we are also getting good feedback from the Schools who are involved. As part of our strategy with regards to our social responsibility we are on track and I believe this programme greatly benefits the legacy of football in Qatar.”

This weekend there will be two football festivals at two stadiums in Doha. Stay tuned for more details which will be unveiled this week.
