For the second year in a row, the QFC celebrated the conclusion of its 5-a-side football tournament. Aiming to strengthen and foster business and networking opportunities outside the traditional office environment, the QFC 5-a-side football tournament saw more than 200 players from 19 different companies come together to compete and to celebrate the QFC’s growing community.

A closing ceremony was held on Tuesday to recognise the top three teams following the highly anticipated semi-finals and final which saw the Qatar First Bank claiming the QFC Cup.

Congratulating the winning teams, QFC Authority Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication, Yousef Fakhroo, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank every team member for his consistent enthusiasm and spirit throughout the tournament. Your competitiveness and dedication both on and off the field guaranteed this year’s various successes.”

First launched in 2014, the QFC Authority 5-a-side football tournament was met with resounding success for bringing the QFC Authority and its licenced firms together to strengthen business bonds and create new networking opportunities.

“The QFC 5-a-side football tournament was envisioned in 2014 as a networking event, but I’ve seen this event evolve into something much bigger than football and networking,” added Fakhroo. “The relationships and bonds created here will continue to strengthen the sense of community that we enjoy at the QFC, this in turn does its own bit to contribute to Qatar’s goals of economic and financial diversification,” he said.

Yousuf Fakhroo also thanked the three QFC firms who sponsored the event: Ooredoo, Qatar First Bank and GlobeMed Qatar.
