Qatar's top squash player Abdulla Al Tamimi won a gold medal at the West Asia Men's Squash Championships in Tehran, Iran, on Thursday.
Al Tamimi beat home favourite Alireza Shameli 3-0 in Thursday's final.
Secretary-General of Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF), Tariq Zainal, said that Al Tamimi's victory is a new Qatari achievement that reflects the level of ambition and determination of the player who always aspires to climb to the podiums, noting that what Al Tamimi achieved in this continental championship represents a new gain for squash sport in Qatar.
The team competitions will start on Friday with the participation of the Qatari team consisting of Abdulla Al Tamimi, Sayed Azlan Amjad, Ahmed Al Tamimi and Abdul Rahman Al Maliki.
