Qatari runner Mubarak Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi made it to the finish line on the Corniche in a total time of 155 hours 30 minutes and 1 second. He set off on November 28th to set a Fastest Known Time or FKT overall time to circumnavigate the country. Mubarak ran 484 km in this time, which also included all breaks and short sleeps, of which he slept less than 25 hours in total.
Mubarak set his record with aid from the support crew. He bettered the previous overall record by 12 and half hours, which was set in an unsupported manner by Qatari resident, Frenchman, Pierre Daniel. Both these athletes will now hold their respective FKT’s (supported/unsupported) until they are bettered.
