Sheikh Mohammed Abdulla Al Thani, aka Moe Al Thani has successfully climbed the world’s top seven summits, becoming the first Qatari to achieve this incredible feat. He is one of only 350 people in the world to climb the seven highest mountains peaks on seven continents.
Al Thani, who is also the Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) Goodwill Ambassador, completed the challenge earlier this month and successfully reached the peak of Denali in Alaska, North America, Qatar Foundation (QF) announced.
The renowned mountaineer and adventurer started his Alaskan adventure in May 2016, reaching the summit of Denali on 3rd June, where he proudly raised the Qatari flag. The climb to reach the Denali Summit, which is 6,190m above sea level, lasted for 28 days and was dotted with bad weather and natural challenges.
In a statement, Al Thani said that after thousands of hours of training and hard work, he was “extremely proud of having successfully hoisted the Qatari flag on the tallest peaks of each of the world’s seven continents.”
On 22 May 2013, Al Thani became the first Qatari to reach the summit of the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest and he has already conquered Mount Kilimanjaro (twice), Mont Blanc, Mount Vinson, the highest peak of Antarctica, Mount Elbrus the highest point in Europe, Mount Kosciuszko, Australia and South America's Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Western hemisphere.
It is indeed a proud moment for Qatar and its residents. Drop in a message to congratulate Sheikh Mohammed Abdulla Al Thani for this big achievement.
