Although Team Qatar's Abdulaziz Al Obaidly didn't win a medal in the Men's 200m breaststroke event at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games, he broke his own personal record and acquired valuable Olympics experience which will be an incentive to do even better in the next Olympic Games, according to a status on the Qatar Olympic Committee Twitter page.
Qatar’s promising swimmer Abdulaziz Al Obaidly is ready to make his debut at Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games when he participates in the Men’s 200m breaststroke event on Tuesday 27 July 2021 at 1:35 pm (Qatar Standard Time).
By participating in this Tokyo 2020 Olympics and competing against top world champions, Al Obaidly will have an opportunity to develop his swimming skills and come back home with greater experience.

In a statement to the media on Monday 26 July 2021, Al Obaidly said:
”I will do my best and fight tooth and nail to improve my personal record and to gain further experience in swimming”.
Qatar's Deputy Chef De Mission Ahmed Al Darweesh also told the media:
”Everything is going well, we are working together in full cooperation, we are doing our best to take up Qatar’s sports movement to new heights”.
