Qatar’s Nasser Al Attiyah has been fine-tuning his driving on the inner-circuit of the Bahrain International Circuit in preparation for the thrilling final round of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East.
The intense 20-lap, 2.5643 km circuit is set to play host to a titanic battle between current challenge leader Zaid Ashkanani from Kuwait, Al Nabooda Racings Clemens Schmid and Saudi Falcons Abdulaziz AlFaisal in the Gold category with Race 1 on Friday and Race 2 on Saturday. Meanwhile a strong performance in Bahrain could see Al Attiyah secure an incredible top three finish in the Silver Michelin category after only entering the series at the halfway stage.
Speaking after morning practice Nasser Al Attiyah said: “The inner-circuit will be more compact with less room to manoeuvre and over-take so we have to keep our focus. Any mistakes are going to be costly so concentration will be key but I have to remain open for any opportunities which could come from others making errors. The weekend which motorsport fans across the region have been waiting for has finally arrived and we are set for two mouth-watering contests. To be in with a chance of a top three finish in the Silver Michelin category is hugely exciting and would be a great victory for the team. We are very new in the competition and to take home some silverware in our first season would be a huge success.”
The region's most professional racing series is set to come to a thrilling climax at the Bahrain International Circuit for Round 6 on the 7th and 8th of March.
