Qatar Petroleum has cancelled outdoor activities for National Sports Day, because of the bad weather forecast, says an internal circular issued by company’s human capital authority. Holiday announced will not be affected except for essential shifts. Indoor games also will go on as planned.

“Due to the expected weather conditions over the coming few days, and with reference to the enclosed special bulletin by the Civil Aviation Authority on the weather forecast during “National Sport Day” and after careful consideration of all safety concerns of our employees and their families while exercising under heavy rains and strong winds, we regret to inform you that all outdoor activities planned in the various QP locations have been cancelled.”

“However, indoor activities at Jenan Club and Dukhan Recreational Club in Dukhan will continue as planned.”

“In the meantime, Tuesday 14/2/2017 will continue to be an official holiday, except for normal shift work schedules and other essential services, which will be maintained during that day.”

The circular further added:

“We take this opportunity to thank all employees for their participation in our annual National Sport Day activities and assure you that your health and safety are always on the top of our priorities. We invites you to continue placing great emphaisis on sports as anticipated from holding this day, and to keep this tradition alive by exercising in closed doors wherever possible.” (Source)
