The Peninsula Newspaper reported on May 29, 2022, the victory of the Qatar national padel team, who won the gold medal on 28 May 2022, at the third GCC Games taking place in Kuwait. Qatar defeated the host country, Kuwait with a score of 3-0.

Qatar Olympic Committee also celebrated the victory in a tweet on 28 May 2022.

Qatar made history by making its mark as the first nation to win the gold medal for padel at the GCC Games. They had won all four matches ahead of the final winning game.

The win was sealed by Qatari players Mohammed Al Kuwari and Abdulla Al Hijji, prior to which, Mohammed Abdulla and Abdulaziz Al Kuwari had defeated Kuwaiti players Ahmad Muhammad and Abdulaziz Mayouf giving Qatar the lead.

As per the article, winning player Abdulla Al Hijji expressed his victory by saying, "The players and those in charge of the team made great efforts to achieve this medal and it has paid off".

While Qatar won the gold medal, Kuwait won the silver, and UAE took home the bronze.
