Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation organizes virtual races

The Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation (QCTF) announced organizing a series of challenges and races on the Zwift virtual bike platform starting this month, to maintain the fitness of riders, in light of the spread of the Corona virus (Covid-19) in the world. This technology aims to support riders to discover the online bicycles community, and to do what can no longer be done on the roads, according to QCTF.

The Cycling and Triathlon Federation, said on its official website that sales of "smart trainers" have witnessed unprecedented demand since the start of the coronavirus crisis. The federation added that it was seeking, through this new initiative, to encourage more new riders to use the virtual program from the State of Qatar.

How to join

Simply get riding on Zwift, upload to Strava or Zwift.com (find out how to link Zwift to Strava here) and send the links to your activities to: [email protected] or whatsapp +974 7794 1984

Rules

  1. The challenge begins on Sunday 5th April and ends on Saturday 11th
  2. To be eligible for the prize draw, a minimum total distance of 75 kilometers must be covered over the 7 days of the competition.
  3. Winners will be announced at 6pm on Sunday 12th April, subject to verification.
  4. Only Qatar citizens and residents are elligible to participate.
  5. There is no limit to the number of activities which can be completed but the minimum distance per activity is 5km.
  6. Activities must be submitted on the day of their completion to allow leader-boards to be updated.
  7. Only links to activities on zwift.com or Strava will be accepted as proof of completion. Screenshots and other images cannot be accepted. The activity must be public.
  8. The activity must be identifiable as a virtual activity on Zwift and must show route data.
  9. Outdoor rides and activities on platforms other than Zwift are not eligible.
  10. Prize winners will be required to validate selected performances by providing further information including, but not limited to, Zwift activities and weight.
  11. This is a solo challenge intended to encourage participation in cycling and a healthy lifestyle using indoor cycling equipment. Any attempt to boost mileage outside the spirit of the challenge will result in disqualification and may result in ineligibility for future QCTF competition.

Prizes

The man and woman who complete the most distance will win the top-of-the-range Wahoo Roam GPS cycling computer from Rasen Adventure Shop. The value of this awesome prize is QAR 1650. Five Wahoo Tickr Heart Rate monitor chest straps worth QAR 215 are up for grabs via the prize draw. To be in the draw you simply have to complete 75 or more virtual kilometres.
