Qatar's coach Felix Sanchez said he is looking forward to a win against Afghanistan on Thursday in the opening match of Group E of the joint qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and 2023 AFC Asian Cup in China.
"We are happy to start the qualifying campaign with a match at home, in front of our own fans. That is why its all the more important that we make a big impact. We are looking forward to a good game," said Felix Sanchez in the press conference held before the match.
When asked if he would be taking the match lightly as Qatar are much stronger "on paper", Sanchez said: "If all the results go according to teams strengths on paper football would be a very boring sport,"
"As I said no team can be taken lightly. We have studied them, as they must have studied us," Sanchez added.
Also in Qatar's group, India will look to new head coach Igor Stimac to guide them to their first victory in five meetings with Oman at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati.
