Qatar beats Oman 2 -1 in 2022 FIFA World Cup, 2023 Asian Cup joint qualifying match

Today, 2019 AFC Asian Cup champions Qatar faced their friendly neighbour Oman which placed second in Group E with 6 points against Qatar's 7 points in a key 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup joint qualifying match at Al Janoub Stadium (formerly known as the Al Wakrah Stadium). The match started at 7:30 pm, and ended with a 2 - 1 win for Qatar.

The goals

Yusuf Abdurisag set up Akram Afif for a great finish inside the box and Qatar scored its first goal in the 3rd minute of the game. The second match of the goal was scored by Oman's Almandhar Al Alawi in the 66th minute bringing the score to 1-1. Qatar, not one to stay behind scored another goal, their second one close on the heels of Oman's goal, in the 71st minute, with the score at 2-1 in Qatar's favour. The goal was scored by Qatar's Almoez Ali who put in a brilliant low shot.

Qatar lead Group E with 7 points after victories over Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Coached by Felix Sanchez, Qatar played a goalless draw against India last month.

Oman, on the other hand, are second in the group with 6 points after two wins against India (2-1) and Afghanistan (3-0), according to QNA.
