2016 has been a pivotal year for wellness in Qatar. The driving force behind this change has been Jawaher Al Fardan, a wellness entrepreneur and advanced yoga teacher, who has been working tireless to share her passion for health through a number of new business ventures. In September, she unveiled Evergreen Organics, Qatar’s first ever fully vegan café, and this December Niya Yoga, Al Fardan’s much anticipated yoga studio and holistic healing centre, has launched its inaugural classes.
Niya Yoga is first ever Qatari owned yoga studio, signaling a new wellness era in the region[/quote]. With over 35 group classes per week in lineages as varied as vinyasa, ashtanga, slow flow and yin, it was founded with the intention of creating a vibrant community where everyone can explore the power of yoga. There are two ladies only classes per day as well as numerous classes specifically designed for beginners. For those looking for a more bespoke service, the studio offers private classes, where students can work with a dedicated instructor to build strength, flexibility, and improve posture. In 2017, Niya will begin hosting workshops, teacher training courses, wellness weekends and retreats to rejuvenate the mind and body.
Al Fardan explains: “I’ve always been taught how important it is to give back, to provide a meaningful service. By opening Niya Yoga, I hope to share different healing modalities with people in Doha. The studio is a sanctuary where you can slow down and find peace in the midst of your busy life. Everyone is welcome at Niya, where you can be whatever you are, simply with a new intention. Niya Yoga is located in Mercato Palazzo 1, Qanat Quartier, the Pearl.
