Ooredoo has extended congratulations to its brand ambassador Nasser Al-Attiyah today after his heroic win at Rally Australia on Sunday, his third WRC2 victory of the season.
Nasser Al-Attiyah and co-driver, Giovanni Bernacchini, won the Rally in his Ooredoo-branded Fiesta RRC, coming out with a clear lead over international competition.
This is the third Super 2000 World Rally Championship win for Nasser Al-Attiyah this year, as Qatar’s sporting hero looks to finish the highly competitive championship in pole position. The win moved Al-Attiyah to within eight points of series leader Lorenzo Bertelli, who finished fourth.
Ooredoo works closely with Al-Attiyah in Qatar, looking to promote sporting spirit and inspire the next generation to drive safely. With Ooredoo’s ongoing investment in network speeds and development – particularly with Qatar’s first and most established 4G mobile Internet service – its work with the rally champion is an excellent fit.
Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director, Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo, said: “We congratulate Nasser on his amazing achievement in Australia. Like Ooredoo, Nasser excels in delivering a high-speed performance against international competition, and continues to build upon his leadership position.”
Ooredoo worked with Nasser Al-Attiyah on the official launch of Ooredoo 4G in 2013, and the service is now available across the country.
The Word Rally Championship is the world’s most challenging international motorsport series, with entrants racing in 13 hosting countries against conditions such as snow, ice, high altitudes, rocks, desert, gravel, and rainforest.
So far in 2014, Nasser Al-Attiyah has achieved first place in the Portuguese and Argentinian rallies for the World Rally Championship, first place in Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan in the Middle East Rally Championship and a podium place at the Dakar Rally.
To celebrate the success of Nasser Al-Attiyah’s sporting achievements in 2014, Ooredoo awarded the driver with a new high performance sports car at an event hosted at Ooredoo’s HQ1 building in June.
Ooredoo’s sponsorship of Nasser Al-Attiyah is a part of several initiatives the company has undertaken to encourage sports education and inspire more young people to take-up sport. The company is a major supporter of sport across all levels, grass-root, national and international.
