One of the biggest sporting events the FIFA 2022 World Cup will take place in Qatar and the country is in full swing in its preparation to host the greatest football event.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), the body responsible for delivering the infrastructure vital to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, announced the completion of turf laying of Al Wakrah Stadium.

In a tweet on Friday, SC said:

“Our team has broken the record for the fastest turf laying of a football pitch...completing it in just 9 hours 15 minutes!”

It is worth mentioning that the previous record was 13 hours 15 minutes, held by Khalifa International Stadium.

This eye-catching Al Wakrah stadium will impress football fans with its elegant looks and flawless pitch. Supporters will also find plenty things to do before and after matches, whether it's taking a stroll along the waterfront, buying unique local wares at the Wakrah souq or discovering the area's rich history at a museum.
