Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation announced in a tweet on 2 January 2023 that Qatari driver Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah & his co-driver Matthieu Baumel won first place at stage 2 of the Dakar Rally 2023 at Sea Camp - Alula.

Al Attiyah, the title holder, accompanied by his French navigator, Mathieu Baumel, on board his Toyota Hilux T1, covered the distance of the second stage for a distance of 430 km, in a time of 4:00.26 hours, and a difference of only 14 seconds from Dutchman Eric van Loon, owner of Second place.
And the Spanish driver, Carlos Sainz (Audi), finished third, with a difference of 5 minutes and 5 seconds, which was enough to give him the lead in the temporary general standings after the second stage, two minutes and 12 seconds ahead of Al-Attiyah, who finished second, while Frenchman Mathieu Serradori came in third place.
