World Athletics announced in a tweet on 19th July 2022 the victory of Mutaz Barshim of bagging the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships 2022 in Oregon.

He defeated South Korea's Sanghyeok Woo with a winning height of 2.37m.

This victory also gave Mutaz the title of 'the first man in history to claim three world high jump title".
