Motogp 2024 season opened lusail circuit qatar

MotoGP™ announced on 27 April 2024 that the Lusail Circuit will host the inaugural race of the Motorcycle World Championship for the next season of 2024.

This came according to the preliminary calendar published by the Dorna Company, which owns the commercial rights to the World Motorcycle Championship today.

The calendar is to be approved following official approval by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).

The provisional date for the races is between 8 to 10 March 2024 at the Lusail Circuit. The season-opening will be returning to Qatar in 2024 as it has been doing so since 2007.

The inaugural race did not take place at the Lusail Circuit during the current season 2023 due to the renovation works that took place on the circuit; therefore, Europe returned to host the inaugural race for the first time since 2006, at the Portuguese Portimao circuit on 26 March 2023.

The preparatory trial dates for the 2024 season were also revealed. The Malaysian Sepang Circuit will host the preparatory trials between the 1 to 3 February 2024 the trials of trial riders and newcomers to the "Rockies" championship, while the Lusail Circuit will host between 6 to 8 February and 19 to 20 February two rounds of trials, two open preparatory events with the participation of all riders.

It is noteworthy that the Lusail Circuit will host the nineteenth and penultimate round of the current season's competitions on 19 November 2023.
