[UPDATED] 28 September 2021, 7:17 pm

The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) has clarified via email to ILoveQatar.net (ILQ) on 28 September 2021 that the information in the infographic is false.

....................................................................................................................

The image that has been circulating on social media detailing alleged regulations for the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy’s (SC) ‘Host a Fan’ initiative has been confirmed fake, by various media outlets in Qatar.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) had announced the launch of its Host a Fan initiative on 25 September 2021, enabling households across the country to volunteer to host visiting supporters during upcoming sporting events. The first-of-a-kind programme will link supporters travelling to Qatar for major tournaments with locals and residents.

The fake image that went viral was first posted by an Emirati-linked Twitter account with the Twitter handle @kuwarimud. The image mentioned conditions for people wishing to host a fan during the FIFA World Cup 2022™ in 2022.

The fake post lists 6 conditions that include:

  1. Hosts must have a vacant room.
  2. The rooms must be equipped according to the requirements of Qatari safety and hospitality.
  3. The fans are divided based on skin colour and the language spoken.
  4. The Ministry of Interior (MOI) will conduct periodic inspections.
  5. The host does not object to the dress worn by the fans and needs to respect cultures.
  6. It is not allowed to marry the people who will be hosted without the approval of the competent authority.

The ILoveQatar.net (ILQ) team has reached out to the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy on 28 September 2021 via email and are awaiting their statement on the same.
