Al Rayyan have a superiority over Al Gharafa in their previous ties in the Qatar Stars League during the last five seasons. QSL online looked at the fixtures down the years ahead of the round 11 clash between the two sides.

Al Rayyan and Al Gharafa have faced each other in eight matches since the 2010/2011. The first encounter was during the 2010/2011 season was a thrilling 3-3 draw. Players Alfonso Alves and Jarallah Al Marri scored for Al Rayyan while players Juninho, Younis Mahmoud and Meshaal Abdullah scored for Al Gharafa. In the second leg of the same season Al Rayyan won 3-2 with goals from Jarallah Al Marri and Rodrigo Tabata as Juninho and Amara Diane scored for Al Gharafa.

In the 2011/2012 season the first match was a 1-1 draw Alfonso Alves scored for Al Rayyan and Edmilson scored for Al Gharafa, ensuring that honors where even.The second tie of the 2011/2012 season, Al Rayyan gained their biggest victory over Al Gharafa defeating the Cheetahs 5-1.

The same 5-1 score line was repeated in the first half of the 2012/2013 season with Al Rayyan defeating their rivals courtesy of goals from Mossa Haroun, Nelmar, Tabata, Hamed Ismail and Jarallah Al Marri. Al Gharafa returned to winning ways in the second half of the 2012/2013 season beating Al Rayyan 2-1 with goals from Alex Sanchez and Fahed Al Shammari .

In the 2013/2014 season, Al Gharafa won the first match of the season 3-1. The second match of the season ended in a stalemate as the teams drew 1-1.So from the eight matches down the years a total of 34 goals were scored, out of which 23 by Al Rayyan and 11 by Al Gharafa.With Al Rayyaan winning 3 times, Al Gharafa winning twice and the sides drawing three times.
