H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani crowned the national football team of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the winner of the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup, following their 1-0 victory over the national football team of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Sunday.
H.H. the Amir handed the Bahraini players the gold medals and the championship's trophy and handed the silver medals to the Saudi players.
The crowning ceremony was attended by H.H. the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, H.H. the Personal Representative of H.H. the Amir Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani and H.E. Sheikh Jassim bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
Also, the ceremony was attended by H.E. President of the Asian Football Confederation Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Their Excellencies Sheikhs and Ministers and heads of the Gulf Olympic committees and federations, Their Excellencies heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to the State, senior officials in the sport field and a huge numbers of fans.
The crowning ceremony started with handing the championship awards in different categories, as Qatar national team won the fair play award, Saudi Arabian Fawaz Al Qarni won the best goalkeeper award, Saudi Arabian Abdullah Otayf won the best player award, then honored the final match refereeing team.
