Qatar’s Losail International Circuit will hold its first-ever Formula 1 (F1) Grand Prix on November 19-21, with the country set to host the 20th event of the 2021 season, as well as signing an additional 10-year deal to host F1 from 2023.
The Qatari circuit is most famous for its association with the world of two-wheeled racing, with Losail having hosted the MotoGP series since 2004. Ooredoo, the international communications company, will be the title sponsor for the event.

Formula 1, or F1, is the pinnacle of international motorsport and one of the most popular sports in the world. Races are held throughout the year on dedicated tracks and city circuits, attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators. It is a sport with a long and illustrious history, with today’s cars reaching speeds of over 320 km/h.
The current season sees a neck-and-neck battle for the Championship between Mercedes driver and seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton, and rising star of Red Bull Racing Max Verstappen.
This will be the first time Qatar hosts a Formula 1 race. The race weekend will take place from 19-21st November 2021. The weekend will begin with two practice sessions on Friday from 13:30-14:30 and 17:00-18:00, followed by a single practice session on Saturday at 14:00-15:00 and qualifying at 17:00-18:00. The Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, with lights out scheduled for 17:00 local time.
The race will return to Qatar in 2023 under a 10-year agreement until 2032.

Free parking will be available, but it will be limited.
Ticket holders are encouraged to make use of public transport and to car-pool as much as possible. Please arrive early as traffic congestion is expected on the roads surrounding the circuit and in the parking areas.
There will be a designated taxi/Uber drop off point at the circuit. A taxi from the West Bay area of Doha to Losail International Circuit will take approximately 25 minutes (with no traffic) and costs approximately 35 Qatari Riyals ($9.50).
You can also take the Metro to Lusail Metro Station.
For people using the Metro, there will be frequent shuttle buses running between Lusail Metro Station and Losail International Circuit. A single standard journey on the Metro costs 3 Qatari Riyals ($0.80). Please note that due to traffic the expected shuttle travel time from Lusail Metro Station to Losail International Circuit may take up to 40 minutes so please plan your trip accordingly. On Fridays, the Metro only operates from 14:00.
The average temperature in Qatar during the month of November is 25 degrees Celsius, with slightly cooler temperatures in the evenings. As we move closer to the winter months, there may be a chance of rain.
The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) launched the “Losail Star Power” campaign across its social media channels to engage the community in motorsports in Qatar and urge fans to buy the last remaining tickets for the 2021 Formula 1 Ooredoo Qatar Grand Prix. The “Losail Star Power” campaign taps into Qatar’s deep reservoir of local and international stars from across the world of sport and entertainment for a head-to-head fastest lap contest at the Losail International Circuit.
Videos of the competition will be posted all week at the @losailcircuit and @QMMF_official accounts on Twitter and Instagram before the winner with the fastest time is declared.
