Liverpool FC landed in Doha ahead of their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019.

Liverpool , who secured qualification by winning the UEFA Champions League, will face Monterrey on Wednesday 18 December, 20:30, at Khalifa International Stadium.

A large contingent of Liverpool fans have travelled to Doha and the club enjoys a significant fanbase amongst local Qataris and expatriates.

"This competition gives the squad the opportunity to achieve something new, the chance to win Liverpools first ever Club World Cup. Its been a busy but incredible year and of course we will give everything to wrap-up 2019 with this title. We followed the matches yesterday and are looking forward to playing Monterrey on Wednesday with the support of all the Liverpool fans that are travelling to Doha or living in Qatar", said Liverpool FC Manager Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool will be one of seven clubs taking part from around the globe seeking to be crowned Club World Cup champions - and it is this competition that Klopp will prioritize.

Real Madrid are unable to compete for a fourth-straight win after lifting the Champions League in three successive seasons before Liverpool's 2-0 win over Tottenham in last season's final.

Should Liverpool win, they will play either CONMEBOL Libertadores winners CR Flamengo or Al Hilal FC in the final.
