Adidas provided fans the opportunity to meet some of the world’s most iconic players today as FC Bayern Munich stars Thomas Muller, Philipp Lahm and Xabi Alonso visited the adidas store in Villagio Mall. Hundreds of fans visited the store to catch a glimpse of the stars, who signed autographs and took pictures with the public.
Speaking after the event, Muller said:
“We have met our fans for half an hour today and had some pictures and autographs, and we have had fun. It’s nice for them and it’s special for us.”
The trio, who are all World Cup winners is in Qatar as part of a winter training camp with the rest of their team. The players have been enjoying Qatar’s world-class ASPIRE facilities as they prepare for their first match of 2016 against Hamburger SV on January 22nd.
The reigning Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich have won the German league for the last three years in a row and boast some of the world’s most talented stars. Bayern have been in scintillating form this season and are top of the Bundesliga at the halfway point, currently sitting eight points clear of second place team Borussia Dortmund at the break.
Their superiority is underlined with an impressive 46 league goals – 14 of which were down to Muller - and just eight conceded in the first half of the season. Training camps are a vital part of staying fit and remaining in form for clubs whilst the Bundesliga takes its winter break, and Alonso feels Qatar is a great place to come and train ahead of the second half of the season.
Speaking about their training camp, Alonso said:
“The facilities at Aspire are great. We’ve becoming here for the last few years and we feel that we have everything that we need.”
Today was a great opportunity for fans of adidas and the Bayern Munich team to spend time with some of the players that light up the German league week in, week out as adidas continues to celebrate the brands’ love for sport, and help to bring fans closer to their sporting stars.
