Egypt defeated Lebanon 1-0 in their first-round match for Group D of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021™ on Wednesday, 1 December 2021, at the Al Thumama Stadium.
Egypt and Lebanon play in Group D, along with Algeria and Sudan. In the second round playoffs for group D scheduled on Saturday, 4 December, Egypt will take on Sudan while Algeria will play against Lebanon.
Sixteen of the Arab world’s top national teams are in Qatar for the first pan-Arab tournament under the FIFA umbrella. Being held a year before the first FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ in the Middle East and Arab world takes place, the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021™ will see 32 matches played over 19 days from 30 November to 18 December. Six Qatar stadiums will host the competition.
The finals will take place exactly a year before the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ finals on 18th December, which is Qatar's National Day.
