Education City Golf Club held the first ever members golf tournament over the 18-hole Championship course. The members golf tournament took place on Friday 25th January. Still in its soft opening period, the golf course has an active golf club membership playing on a regular basis since the start of 2019.

The first members stableford was played over the pristine 18 hole Championship golf course measuring 7200 yards. Prizes and catering were put on and sponsored by Education City Golf Club ensuring that their membership were treated to a special day, seeing that the event was the first one.

Seeing as the golf course has only just opened, the results were exceptional with over 50% of the golfers scoring over 30 points.

Hanley Hilton playing off an 11 handicap scored a consistent 35 points and came in 3rd place. In second place was Anup Biswas with a score of 37 points. Taking the honours of winning the first ever members stableford was Jesse Payne, scoring an impressive 75 gross with 41 stableford points. After winning the event, Jesse Payne commented “I played great golf today and tied my all-time best score. I really enjoy playing the golf course at Education City as it makes you think your way around each hole with different challenges. It is an absolutely beautiful course and is in wonderful condition. Perhaps the best part of the tournament was meeting other members who share my passion with the game and looking forward to playing other events with them in the near future.”

Education City Golf Club have a holistic approach to growing the game in Qatar to continue to engage established golfers in golf and encourage new golfers to participate in the game.

“Encouraging people to get active is part of our vision and by creating memorable events and experiences for our members we aim to encourage active participation through our competitions. All of the feedback has been so positive from our members and guests and we are pleased to now be open for golfers in Qatar.” Quoted Rhys Beecher Director of Golf
