Entries are now open for the 5th annual Doha College 5K and 10K run on 5 December 2015 at the Aspire Zone.
Spaces are limited in the popular race, which attracted over 1000 participants last year.
Doha College Principal Dr Steffen Sommer said this year’s event will be opened by former Olympic medalist and Doha resident Liz McColgan.
“Doha College is extremely pleased to once again partner with the Aspire Zone Foundation and thrilled to have Liz, a 10,000m World Champion, open the event,” Dr Sommer said.
“We would like to see as many people as we can on the day, as it is open to people of all abilities,” he said.
“The purpose is to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle while having fun.
“Everyone is welcome whether you run, jog or just enjoy the view of the iconic Torch Hotel as you walk around the course.”
Events Manager at Aspire Zone Foundation Mr Abdullah Al Khater said: “Aspire Zone has always been supportive of events and activities that align with its goal of encouraging people to stay healthy and active.”
“This event is yet another opportunity for us to send out our message and encourage the community to adopt a healthy lifestyle,” Mr Al Khater said.
“We welcome once again the Doha College Run at Aspire Zone and wish the best of luck to all participants.”
Race kits can be collected on 4 December from 7-9pm at Aspire, and Dr Sommer encouraged participants to stay and watch the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) 50km race also being run at Aspire.
The Doha College Run, which is open from ages 12 and above, is timed and participants can choose 5km (one lap) or 10km (two laps). Participants can also compete in 8 different categories based on age and gender.
Places are limited so entries will close on 2 December 2015 or sooner if spaces are filled. To register visit https://www.premieronline.com/event/Doha_College_5K_and_10K_2015_1672.
