Doha abuzz with excitement as second phase of GOALZ program concludes

A buzz o excitement swept through Doha as the second phase of the GOALZ program, sponsored by Qatar Strs League (QSL), concluded on Friday and Saturday at Lekhwiya and Al Sadd clubs respectively.

The first day of the festival held in Lekhwiya Sports club was dedicated to the 3rd and 4th grade students from the participating schools while the second day of the festival - held at Al Sadd Sports Club - was dedicated to the 5th and 6th grade students.

The two-day festival included football games between the participating schools as each team represented one of the QSL clubs. Also there was a penalty kick challenge that drew a huge response from the students.

First day of festival at Lekhwiya Sports Club

The first day of the festival held on the 11th of December witnessed by a large number of students representing the six following schools:

- Shorbone School
- Compass School (Al Rayyan)
- Voltere School (West Bay)
- Voltere School (Al Waab)
- Doha Academy
- Newton Academy

There was fierce competition between the teams during the first day which commenced from 11:00 am to 03:00 pm. After the conclusion of the events, Shorbone School (representing Al Gharaf Club) emerged champions, Compass School Al Rayyan (representing Al Rayyan Club) were the runner-ups, Voltere School West Bay (representing Lekhwiya Club) were placed third and Voltere School Al Waab (Representing Al Ahli
Club) finished fourth.

Also Voltere School was awarded the ideal team and the most valuable player was awarded to Rooney from Compass School.

Second day of the festival at Al Sadd Sports Club

The second day of the festival held on the 12th of December. The day featured students from six following schools:

- Doha Academy
- Newton Academy
- Gulf English School
- Doha English School
- Voltere School
- Shorbone School

After the conclusion of the events, Doha Academy (representing Al Sadd
Club) emerged champions, Newton British Academy (representing Al Arabi
Club) were the runner-ups, Voltere School (representing Qatar Club) finished third while Gulf English School (Representing Al Gharafa
Club) secured the fourth spot.

Also Doha English School was awarded the ideal team and the most valuable player was awarded to Josh Renor from Doha Academy.

From his side, the QSL Community Relations Officer Nasser Al Kuwari, the general commissioner of GOALZ Program, expressed his thanks and appreciation to Lekhwiya and Al Sadd clubs for hosting the two –day festival which witnessed huge participation and interaction between the students with the events and activities.

He said: “There is was huge interaction from the side of the schools and their students. The Qatar Stars League Management aims at attracting the younger generation in order to encourage them to be passionate about football to increase the game heritage and the QSL clubs fan base. He assured that all the participating schools in the GOALZ programs are interacting well with the final festivals.
