Thousands of spectators have flocked to Aspire Zone over the Qatar National Day weekend in a bid to find Qatar’s Strongest Man in the second edition of Aspire Zone’s Qatar’s Strongest Man. 16 competitors in two categories battled it out over five grueling tasks which pushed the men’s physical and mental strength to the absolute limit. In the end, Talal Al Kuwari was crowned Qatar’s Strongest Man in the Qatari national’s category, while Christopher Oketch was declared the winner in the open race for Qatar’s residents.
Talal Al Kuwari, the champion in the Qatari national’s category, added: “I am ecstatic with my win, but it was still a really tough race as the standard this year was exceptionally high. I would like to thank Aspire Zone for putting on an amazing event and the second edition of Qatar’s Strongest Man was definitely one of the standout events during the Qatar National Day weekend.”
Christopher Oketch, the 24 year old Kenyan who is also one of the youngest participants in the second edition of Aspire Zone’s Qatar’s Strongest Man, dominated in each of the five tasks. Speaking about his win, Christopher said: “I am ecstatic with my win and to be crowned Qatar’s Strongest Man. It was a thrilling event and a very close race between all of the contestants, and I look forward to the opportunity to defend my title next year.”
Qatar Strongest Man was held over two days with an open race for Qatar’s residents held on December 18th and an exclusive Qatari national’s category held on December 19th. Second place was awarded to Joseph Iroo Ekadeli from Kenya, and third place went to Meshack Otieno Ogo, also a fellow Kenyan in the open race category. Meanwhile, Fahad Al Haddad was awarded second place and Rashid Al Marri was the third place winner in the exclusive Qatari national’s category. In joint fourth place were Ali Essa Albinali and Abdulla Majid Allaq, fifth place was Abdulla Essa Albinali, sixth place was Salah Abdulrahman Zaenalabdeen, and rounding out the Qatari national’s category was Mohammed Jarlla Almarri in seventh place.
The winners in the ultimate ‘Clash of the Titans’ were recognised for their amazing feats during a special ceremony held on December 18th and 19th at 6pm.
The contestants competed in five challenges over the Qatar National Day weekend, including Weight Lifting, Lifting a Fixed Car, Pulling a Truck, Moving a Giant Tire, and Moving an Atlas Stone and Sand Bags.
