Aspire Zone is set to host Qatar’s first ever 50 kilometer ultra-marathon, the International 6:50 Race. The long-distance race, which will take place on March 6, is challenging residents to conquer Aspire Zone and step out of their comfort zones. The route will feature a five kilometer circuit around Aspire Park, and runners will be required to complete ten laps in order to achieve the full distance. The course will be AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) measured and the event will have an IAU (International Association of Ultra Runners) Bronze Label. The ultra-marathon starts at 6pm and, with a deadline of 12am, runners will have six hours to complete the course. Participants will also have the option to run fewer laps and complete shorter distances, including 20km, 30km and 40km. An increasingly popular sport, ultra-marathons are designed to push participants’ physical and mental strength to the limit. Not for the faint-hearted, hard work, determination and endurance are needed to tackle the distance. Registration for the event is open to men and woman aged 18 and over. To sign up, or to find out more information about the race, please visit the website, www.aspirezone.qa/events. Aspire Logistics is constantly seeking new and innovative ways to shape a healthy, sports-loving society, and the International 6:50 Race is its latest offering. Past events include Qatar’s Strongest Man and Doha Jam, Qatar’s premier street basketball tournament. - ILQ News -
