All you need to know about the F1 weekend!

The iconic Losail Circuits Sports Club (LCSC) – which will host the Formula 1 Ooredoo Qatar Grand Prix this weekend – is a popular race track that can also host events in hi-tech artificial light.

Built in 2004, the LCSC is 5.38kms long with a track width of 12 meters. It has 16 corners – right 10 and left 6. The longest straight is 1.068m, running alongside the venue’s Main Grandstand

The first-day race was staged in 2004 but four years later, the LCSC welcomed the MotoGP riders for the first-ever night race. Since then, all major race events are usually staged after sunset.

The circuit has modern pit garages and team offices besides VIP Areas. The press room has the capacity to host 200 media at any given point in time.

The circuit is monitored by 23 cameras round the clock as well as having its own dedicated Medical Centre.

Starting Friday, 19th November, the LCSC will host the first-ever F1 free practice session when the drivers set out to lap the track for the first time.

Thousands of fans will be present to watch Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes renew his points battle with Max Verstappen of Red Bull on Sunday.

Three Fan Zones have been set up to provide a range of entertainment and activities as well as live music shows. Food courts will provide a wide variety of cuisines, organisers have confirmed.

F1 merchandising outlets have also been erected for racing fans keen to purchase racing memorabilia. Eager fans can also have their photos taken against the “Driver Photo Wall” besides getting their pictures taken on the tastefully decorated “Winner’s Podium”.

F1 simulators and ‘remote control’ race tracks can also be enjoyed around the 3 Fan Zones during the race weekend.

Organisers, who confirmed air shows on all three days of on-track action, have urged ticket holders to reach the venue well ahead of the action time.
