9th Alkass International Cup kicks off at Aspire Academy!

The competitions of the 9th Alkass International Cup kicked off Thursday at Aspire Academy in Doha, featuring Under-17 teams of football clubs.

The competitions were attended by a number of sport figures, led by HE Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee Jassim Rashid Al Buainain, HE Secretary General of Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Hassan Abdullah Al Thawadi, CEO of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Nasser Al Khater, CEO of Qatar Stars League Hani Talib Ballan, CEO of Aspire Zone Foundation Mohamed Khalifa Al Suwaidi, and Manager of Alkass Sports Channels and chairman of the organizing committee for the tournament Essa Abdullah Al Hitmi, as well as football stars such as the Moroccan international Al Mahdi Benatia of Al Duhail SC, player Abdul Karim Hassan of Al Sadd SC and Qatar national team and national coach of Qatar Felix Sanchez.

This year's Alkass International Cup features the U16 teams of prestigious clubs such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, FC Internazionale, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Zenit, Altinordu FK and Mohammed VI Football Academy, and Kashiwa Reysol. The 12 participating teams are divided into four groups and will be bidding for glory, with the group winners making it to the next stage.

On Thursday, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) faced Kashiwa Reysol of Japan, while hosts Aspire Academy played against Korean Suwon Samsung.

In the first match, three-time champions PSG defeated Kashiwa Reysol 3-0, and in the second game of the tournament, local heroes Aspire Academy beat Suwon Samsung 3-1.
