PHCC launches flu vaccination campaign for administrative, educational staff at primary, model public schools and kindergartens

The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) announced the launch of a seasonal influenza vaccination campaign for administrative and educational staff in all primary and model government schools and kindergartens, as part of the national vaccination campaign against the disease launched by the Ministry of Public Health in October.

The PHCC will provide mobile teams to vaccinate the administrative and teaching cadres, starting from tomorrow, Sunday, to ensure that all target groups receive seasonal influenza vaccination, as coordination has been made with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to facilitate the entry of mobile teams to vaccinate employees and teachers wishing to receive influenza vaccination for this year.

The PHCC stated that the vaccination campaign in schools will not include students, as they can receive the vaccine against seasonal influenza through the institution’s 27 health centers.

She indicated that for the success of the seasonal influenza vaccination campaign, a mobile vaccination unit was launched this year, which aims to provide safe, easy and fast access to the service so that the target group of patients can obtain influenza vaccination in a faster manner and as a precaution to maintain social distancing in light of the ongoing pandemic. Corona.

The mobile unit of the corporation supports the seasonal influenza vaccination campaign according to a carefully prepared schedule, as the mobile unit is located in the most crowded health centers to facilitate the audiences and maintain their safety, as it was planned to have the mobile unit in 8 health centers, namely Mesaimeer, West Bay, Khalifa City and Al Wakrah centers, along with the airport, Abu Bakr Al Siddiq, Al Rayyan and Al Shahaniya health centers.

For her part, Dr. Maryam Abdul-Malik, Director General of the PHCC, during a visit to Al Wakrah Health Center to inspect the vaccination campaign, stressed the importance of getting a vaccination against seasonal influenza this year more than ever, in light of the continuing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

She indicated that PHCC is keen to implement this campaign annually and to provide free vaccination against seasonal influenza in cooperation with several health authorities to facilitate the population to receive the vaccination, reduce the spread of seasonal influenza, and protect society, especially the groups most vulnerable to its complications, such as those over the age of 50 years and those with chronic diseases and women Pregnant women and children between the ages of six months and five years.

For her part, Dr. Samia Al-Abdullah, Executive Director of the Department of Operations at the PHCC, confirmed that the national campaign for vaccination against seasonal influenza aims to ensure that there is no exposure to diseases that abound during the winter season.

It is worth noting that on 20 October, the Ministry of Public Health launched a seasonal influenza vaccination campaign in all 27 PHCC health centers in addition to the outpatient clinics of Hamad Medical Corporation and more than 40 semi-governmental and private health facilities, where the vaccine is provided. Free for everyone.

The Ministry emphasized that it is very necessary this year, more than ever, to get the free vaccination against seasonal influenza because the symptoms of seasonal influenza and the coronavirus (COVID-19) are very similar.
